Clothes For Fall, Nora Ephron, and Renaissance Art.
Some Saves and Some Thoughts
It is finally fall here in Florence! It’s time for jackets, a desire to eat roast beef at Ruggero, and opening the living room windows for some fresh air off the Arno River. I’m celebrating by sharing what’s on my radar.
First, I love Nora Ephron; Heartburn is top 10, so is You’ve Got Mail. A new book has been released about her and her films. I’ve already ordered it.
A recurring conversation with my girlfriends is how my blush and bronzer disappear. I know I’m not alone here. So the discovery of this Blush cream and powder duo is incredible. It’s difficult to find in Italy, but I have a friend bringing it back from England. If you’ve tried it, please let me know your thoughts!
There is a new Exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi, Beato Angelico. Living in Florence, the modern world coexists in parallel with the Renaissance one. But Strozzi is really known about town for their modern art curation, so I can’t wait to see what they are doing with the extraordinary Renaissance painter’s work. Going tomorrow!
For clothes, I’m eager to change out my closet and fully settle into my personal fashion sweet spot, layering. It’s where I thrive, where I have fun. I am trying not to shop, but there are a few odds and ends I want to pick up.
Finally, this weekend is going to be very social. Trying a new Thai place tonight with friends. Everyone I know is constantly on the hunt for the best Thai, sushi, tacos, and cocktails.
Florence can be a very transitory town. The longer I live here, the more likely I am to have someone dear move on. Kills. So I will be spending a lot of time with Ty Pantry, who is heading back to SoCal. Boo.
Also, checking out the soft opening of the new Wild Buns location. If you don’t know, this is a neighborhood favorite for sourdough, croissants, cinnamon buns, scrambled egg sandwich with the most buttery brioche, and always, always the staff. They are growing, and I couldn’t be more stoked.
And a late Sunday lunch in town. The Sunday lunch here is sacred. It goes for a minimum of 3 hours and is often followed by a location change for a glass of wine and on the couch by 6. It is especially lovely in the colder months when the trattorias around town are especially cozy and the Tuscan food is the perfect comfort food heavy. Highly recommend, no matter where you are.
Ok off to feed myself. Sometimes it can be a delight and sometimes a chore; today, a bit more of the latter.

Really beautifully expressed. Florence in a nutshell 💗
